Awesome results in the Guardian University Guide!

Our games courses were voted 2nd in the UK in this year's Guardian best UK University rankings against 54 institutions in the same category!

We’re particularly proud to have come 1st overall in the category for student satisfaction in the Teaching and Feedback categories.

Games courses join Unreal Academic Partner program

Our Games Art and Games Design course have become official Unreal Academic Partners!

This helps to highlight the great work that we continue to do here in the games department as well as bringing various benefits to the department and its students.

Staff appear in credits of Funko Fusion

Several of our recent art graduates got jobs at 10:10 Games. Their first game was released on the 13th of September and with the “Special thanks” section of the games credits, staff members Col harding and Baz Armstrong got a shout-out.

This is one of the things that makes everyone’s hard work worthwhile :)

Outstanding results from the National Student Survey (NSS)

Results are in from the National Student Survey (NSS)! The survey is completed each year by students about to graduate and allows us to gain feedback on student thoughts on the courses.

The University and the Games department in particular generally do very well in these surveys and this year was no exception!

Games students successful at Game Republic Student Showcase

A team of students from our Games Art, Design and Programming courses attended the Games Republic Student Showcase held at Staffordshire University.

This was the first time we have sent a team to the event and we are very proud to say that the team, Blue Dino received a 2nd place in the Art and Animation category, judged by Rebellion and a 3rd place in the Best Team category judged by Rockstar Games!

Second-year Games Programmer secures internship at d3t Games

A student from our Games Programming course has been successful in securing a 12-month internships at d3t Games commencing Summer ‘24. They will be working within the Programming department.

d3t has been voted as the best place to work in the gamesindustry.biz awards for the past 4 years! d3t is a co-development studio based in Cheshire and has worked on multiple high-profile titles in partnership with companies such as Eidos Montreal, Remedy and 2K among others.

Second year students secure internships at Lucid Games

Students from our Games Art and Games Design courses beat the competition of hundreds of students from across the country to secure 12-month internships at Lucid Games commencing Summer ‘24. They will be working in the respective Art and Design departments.

Lucid Games is an award-winning games studio based in Liverpool and has worked on multiple high-profile titles in partnership with companies such as EA, Respawn, Playstation Studios and Rockstar among others.

Lab and Equipment Upgrades

Multiple Labs in the department have recently been updated to high-end development powerhouses, equipped with the latest 40-series Nvidia graphics cards to ensure an industry-standard level of oomph to drive your games development needs!

We have also recently taken delivery of equipment for motion capture as well as photogrammetry which are about to be set up within our dedicated VR and mo-cap space.
